📷 Photography Tip — What actually happens at a photo session
If you’ve never booked a portrait session before, here’s an honest look at what to expect — no surprises.
We’ll start relaxed. I like to spend the first few minutes just talking, getting comfortable, letting the kids warm up to having a stranger around with a camera. No rushing.
Sessions run about 30 to 45 minutes. That’s plenty of time without wearing anyone out — especially little ones.
I’ll give some gentle direction — where to stand, how to arrange yourselves — but I’m not a drill sergeant. Think of it more as a conversation with a camera nearby.
You won’t see every shot in the moment. I do my editing afterward, which usually takes a couple of weeks. Good editing takes time and I want to deliver photos you’re proud of.
You’ll receive digital files — yours to print, share, and keep forever.
And if something doesn’t go perfectly? That’s okay. Kids wander. Someone blinks. The dog photobombs. These things make the story better, not worse.
The whole goal is for you to leave feeling good — and end up with photos that look like your real family, not a stock photo.
