Documentary Wedding Photography in Kansas City

Every Look, Every Laugh, Every “I Do”

A wedding day moves fast — faster than anyone tells you. Between the nerves, the vows, the toasts, and the moments you don’t even know are happening until someone hands you the photos, it’s over before you catch your breath.

My job is to slow it back down for you. Every glance between you two, every hug from your grandmother, every unscripted laugh at the reception — that’s what I’m there for, not just the posed shots on the checklist. Whether you’re planning a full celebration or an intimate elopement with your closest people, I shoot documentary-style with natural light, so your gallery looks like your day — not a template.

“5 stars all the way, David was the best I couldn’t have pick anyone else better 😊 he’s very nice, makes you feel welcome, very reasonable on the price and will work with you on the things you want. I would most definitely pick him again if I get pictures don’t again and will recommend him every time he’s very dedicated to his work. Thanks again David for all you have done.”

Why Choose Vickshots For Your Wedding

Every Moment, Not Just the Big Ones

The first look is important. So is the way your dad’s hands shake tying his tie. We cover the day as it happens, not just the five shots every wedding photographer gets.

A Day You’ll Relive for Decades

Your gallery is the one you’ll open on your 25th anniversary. We shoot with that day in mind — photos built to hold up, not just look good this week.

Natural Light, Honest Moments

No harsh flash, no over-directed poses. We work with the light you actually have, so the photos feel like you — relaxed, real, and true to the day.

Questions Couples Ask

How much does a wedding photographer cost in Kansas City?

Wedding coverage runs $1,400 for four hours, $2,150 for six hours and $2,800 for eight hours, each with a single photographer and a fully edited gallery. A second photographer can be added for $1,000. A 50% deposit reserves your date.

How far in advance should I book my wedding photographer?

Popular dates — spring and fall weekends especially — book 9–12 months out. If your date is close, reach out anyway; we may still have it open. You can check your date here.

How many hours of wedding photography do I need?

Most full-day weddings with a ceremony and reception fit comfortably in 6–8 hours. Smaller or single-location weddings often work well with 4.

What’s the difference between a first look and a traditional reveal?

A first look is a private moment before the ceremony where you see each other for the first time — it eases nerves and frees up more time for portraits later. A traditional reveal saves that moment for the aisle. Both are beautiful; it’s about what fits your day. Either way, an engagement session beforehand gets you both comfortable in front of a camera long before the wedding.

Should I do an engagement session before the wedding?

It’s optional, but a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera together before the big day — and it gives you images for save-the-dates.

What happens if it rains on my wedding day?

We adapt. Rain can make for beautiful, dramatic photos — we’ll find covered spots and work with the weather rather than against it.
