Engagement Photography in Kansas City

You Said Yes. Let’s Make It Look Like It Felt.

This is the easy one — no ceremony timeline to hit, no relatives to wrangle. Just the two of you, a favorite spot, and an hour or two to be a little ridiculous in love in front of a camera.

Most couples haven’t done a real photo session together before, and it shows in the first five minutes — a little stiff, not sure where to put your hands. That’s normal, and it’s my job to work through it with you. We walk, we talk, I give you something to actually do instead of just “look natural,” and by the second location you’ve usually forgotten I’m there. These photos end up everywhere — save the dates, your wedding website, the guest book at the reception — so they’re worth getting right.

Why Choose Vickshots For Your Engagement Photos

A Warm-Up for Your Wedding Day

The camera stops feeling like a stranger after this. Couples who do an engagement session are noticeably more relaxed on wedding day — you’ve already done this with me once.

Real Locations, Not a Studio Backdrop

Your neighborhood park, the spot you had your first date, downtown KC at golden hour — we shoot where your story actually happened, not in front of a seamless backdrop. Short on ideas? These are our favorite photo locations around Kansas City.

Photos You’ll Actually Use

Save the dates, your wedding website, a guest book print — we shoot with those uses in mind so you’re not scrambling for a usable photo later.

Advance booking: the pricing above is for sessions booked ahead of time. If the date you want is already taken and we need to fit your session in between existing bookings, pricing is subject to change — just ask and I will quote it for you.

Digital files: every package includes web-ready downloads, sized for sharing online and on social. High-resolution files — the ones you want for enlargements and wall prints — are available for an additional charge, individually or as a full-gallery bundle.

Travel: the first 50 miles are included. 50–100 miles adds $25, 100–150 miles adds $50. Further out than that, get in touch for a quote — we travel well beyond the metro and regularly shoot outside Kansas City.

Questions Couples Ask

How much does an engagement session cost in Kansas City?

Engagement sessions start at $250 for 30 minutes, $500 for a full hour, and $850 for 90 minutes across multiple locations. Every package includes professionally edited photos, web-ready downloads and an online gallery, and the two larger packages include prints.

What’s the difference between engagement photos and couples photos?

Engagement photos specifically celebrate being newly engaged and are often used for save-the-dates or your wedding website. Couples photos are for any relationship milestone, anniversary, or just because — no wedding required. If you are planning the wedding too, here are our wedding photography packages.

What should we do with our hands during photos?

I’ll give you specific things to do — walk, whisper something to each other, look at the ring — instead of leaving you to figure out where your hands go. Most of the awkwardness disappears once you have a task.

What time of day is best for engagement photos?

The hour or two before sunset — often called golden hour — gives the softest, most flattering light. We’ll build your session around it. There is more on why timing matters in the best time of day for outdoor photos.

Do we need to match outfits?

No — coordinated is better than matched. Pick colors and tones that work well together rather than identical outfits, and bring a second look if you want variety across locations.

Can we bring our dog?

Yes, as long as the location allows pets. Just let me know ahead of time so we can plan a spot and timing that works well for your dog too.
